Has there been any recent developments in the V22 Tilt Rotor vehicle? Is it being mass produced, ect...

The last I know is that a V22 crashed during test flight and 18 people were killed. It crashed because it was too slow and in a slow descent as it encountered its own vortices and lost altitude. Well, it looks like it lost too much altitude . . . Sad, but true

The crash V-22 had a rate of descent *too high* for its slow rate of forward speed and entered vortex ring effect.  Vortex ring effect is a hazard common to all helicopters and tiltrotors.

The ship is in Low Rate Initial Production and is currently completing operational evaluation with the Marine Corps and Air Force, after being returned to flight status.  The CV-22B Air Force Special Ops Osprey was recently rolled out, but hasn't flown yet. 字串8

Unfortunately there has just been another accident involving the V22, and all aircraft have been grounded once again.

It is still to early to speculate on the cause of the latest accident

VRS is NOT COMMON to ALL helicopters and tiltrotors. This
appears to be a marketing ploy. Helicopters, which have lighter disk loading usually settle with power and can readily be controlled to either exit the situation or make a controlled landing. A tiltrotor which has much stiffer blades (props) also begins to settle with power , however it can each a state where severe flow changes result in vortex near mid span, produce abrubt and sometimes violent vibrations and loss of control ( rapid pitch down and roll to inversion) -- and CRASH  BIG difference!!! 字串1
